The past couple of months I’ve been backing off the smoothie train and instead have been craving, and enjoying, nutritious, hearty meals and chewing each savory bite. But recently I’ve been wanting the creaminess- and health benefits- of a smoothie, and another Health Coach, Rachel Feldman, started a 21 Day Sexy Smoothie Challenge, so I decided to join the party.

With Rachel’s guidance, and incorporating some of my favorite ingredients, I created my version of the Black & White Milkshake.  I’ve removed all fruit, which my body doesn’t always tolerate so well (especially bananas), and added in some super foods like avocado, kale, and cacao.

Check out the recipe below, and feel free to add in/ remove whatever ingredients work for you and your body! That’s the best part about smoothies. They’re extremely versatile and you can customize your creation in a way that will make you feel great!

So, here’s my recent smoothie concoction that came out tasting like a milkshake!

1/2 cup kale

1/2 avocado

1 -1.5 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk

2 scoops Aloha Vanilla Protein Powder (my new obsession!)

1 heaping tbsp cacao

5-7 drops stevia

5 ice scoops

2 tbsp pecans

1. Add all of the ingredients except for the pecans into a blender. I add the kale and avocado first, then some liquid, add the rest of the ingredients including ice, and top it off with the remainder of the liquid.

2. Once blended, top with pecans and enjoy with a spoon!
