HOW TO BOUNCE BACK AFTER AN INDULGENT WEEKEND

It happens to the best of us. We try to be super healthy with our food choices and strict with our workout sessions, but that birthday weekend, wedding extravaganza, or vacation always seems to interfere… sending us down a rabbit hole that leaves us feeling pretty crappy and questioning our recent decisions.

But, instead of getting mad and beating yourself up over this, below are some tips to help you let go, move on and bounce back with ease….

1:: Before indulging, acknowledge that this is going to happen and ENJOY it. It will make it so much more worth while, and if you’re going to indulge, you might as well have fun!

2:: Forgive yourself. There’s no point in harping on the situation or criticizing yourself for these decisions. What’s done is done, and if you dwell on this situation- one that cannot be changed- you just make the stress of the situation worse and make it harder to mentally digest the experience.  Let it go, move on, and proceed to #3…

3:: Notice how you feel after this experience and use this as motivation to get back on track. Now that you’ve acknowledge this situation and have forgiven yourself, take a mental note of how you’re feeling… and use this as your inspo to make healthier choices.

And speaking of healthier choices…

4:: Bump up your water consumption to help flush out those unhealthy choices, boost your metabolism, and rehydrate your body. For an added boost, add free-squeezed lemon to your water to assist with detoxifying your liver and digesting your food.

5:: Cut out ALL sugar, processed and packaged foods, dairy, and flour. Stick with a whole food/ clean eating plan. This means eating foods in their most natural state. Think:: leafy greens, veggies, fruit, lean protein (eggs, fish, chicken, etc.), fermented veggies, nuts & seeds. This will help your body naturally cleanse itself of anything it needs to get rid of and give your cells and body a nutrient boost.

6:: Take a probiotic. It’s important to support the good bacteria in your gut to help fight off the junk that’s now hanging out in your body.  The more good bacteria, the better chance you have of killing off the bad guys, boosting digestion, and helping you feel a hell of a lot better.

7:: Drink dandelion root tea. This decaffeinated tea helps promote detoxification in your liver, which is really important to help your body eliminate toxins and function at an optimal level.

8:: Breathe. Not only will this help you achieve tips 1-3, but in order to look and feel your best it’s really important to oxygenate your body.  This will help repair your cells and boost your metabolism and energy. Try the following breathing exercise:: Inhale through your nose for a count of 4, hold the inhale for a count of 1, exhale through your nose for a count of 4, hold the exhale for a count of 1. Repeat 3-5 times.
