HOW TO BOUNCE BACK AFTER AN INDULGENT WEEKEND

It happens to the best of us. We try to be super “good” with our food choices and strict with our workout sessions, but that birthday weekend, wedding extravaganza, or vacation, always seems to interfere and send us off our tracks and feeling kinda crappy. And it typically makes us question our recent decisions.

But, instead of getting mad and beating yourself up over this, below are some tips to help you forgive yourself + move on as well as what to do to detox your body and bounce back with ease….

1:: Before indulging, acknowledge that this is going to happen and ENJOY it. It will make it so much more worth while, and if you’re going to indulge, you might as well have fun!

2:: Forgive yourself. There’s no point in harping on the situation or criticizing yourself for these decisions.  What’s done is done, and if you dwell on this situation- one that cannot be controlled- you just make the stress of the situation worse and make it harder to literally digest the experience.  Let it go, move on, and proceed to #3…

3:: Notice how your feel after this time of indulgence and use this as motivation to get back on track. Now that you’ve acknowledge this experience and have forgiven yourself, notice how you’re feeling and take a mental note that you don’t feel so hot… and use this as your drive to make healthier choices NOW.

And speaking of healthier choices…

4:: FLOOD your body with water. More specifically water with lemon. This will help flush out the unhealthy choices, boost your metabolism, and assist with detoxing the liver and digesting  (and eliminating) your food.

5:: Cut out ALL sugar, processed and packged foods, dairy, and flour. You need to stick with s whole food/ clean eating plan. This means eating foods in their most natural state. Think:: leafy greens, veggies, fruit, lean protein (eggs, fish, chicken, etc.), fermented veggies, nuts & seeds.

6:: Take a probiotic. It’s important to boost the good bacteria in your gut to help fight off the storm of junk that’s now chillin in your body.  The more good bacteria, the better chance they have of killing off the bad guys, boosting digestion, and feeling a hell of a lot better.

7:: Drink dandelion root tea. This decaffeinated tea helps promote detoxification in your liver, which is really important to help your body eliminate toxins and function at an optimal level.

8:: Breathe. Not only will this help you achieve tips 1-3, but in order to look and feel your best it’s really important to oxygenate your body.  This will help repair your cells and help boost your metabolism and energy (do I have your attention now?).  Try the following breathing exercise:: Inhale through your nose for a count of 4, hold the inhale for a count of 1, exhale through your nose for a count of 4, hold the exhale for a count of 1. Repeat 3-5 times.
