berries & cream smoothie

With 2016 being in full swing I’ve decided, like many new year’s resolutions out there, to step up my nutrition and fitness game and get a little more “hardcore”. Also, our wedding is fast approaching..less than 8 months to go, which I know sounds like a crazy long time, but I feel like it will be here before I know it!! And, I’m not one to just crash diet to slim down or tone up… I prefer the natural way of upgrading my diet and exercise regimen.

So, instead of that delicious (gluten-free) english muffin I was about to reach for for the second day in a row, I decided to swap it out with a scrumptious, and much lighter breakfast.

I’ve actually been wanting to make a berry smoothie lately, but I only had chocolate protein powder, and it just wasn’t doing it for me, so I grabbed some vanilla plant based protein the other day and whipped this bad boy up. YUM!

It’s uses less than 5 ingredients, is super healthy and satisfying, and has a nice natural sweetness.

Since it is getting colder, you can alsoΒ add some cinnamon for a bit of a “warming” effect.




1/2 cup frozen mixed berries

1 cup almond milk

1-2 scoops vanilla protein (depending on the serving size)

2 tbsp flax meal


Add everything to the blender and mix! Doesn’t get much easier than that πŸ˜‰
