cinco de mayo… or another excuse to eat chips and guac πŸ‘Œ

May 5, 2017

One of my all-time favorite snacks is chips and guacamole. I couldΒ literally go to a Mexican restaurant and just have this as my meal, and I would be completely happy (well that andΒ a margarita πŸ˜‡). Although this combo isn’t unhealthy per se, there is definitely room for some healthy upgrades.

I’ll keep this post short and sweet, so that you can go get your guac on. Below is my crazy simple and easyΒ recipe along withΒ my favorite healthy tortillaΒ chips.

This will take all of 3 minutes to make- start to finish, which is my kind of snack!

Pure Green Guacamole:

serves 2

1.5 avocados

Sea salt

Garlic power

Pit and scoop avocados

Cut avocados into smaller pieces and toss into a bowl

Using a fork, mash up avocado. I like when it’s still a little chunky, but make it as you like

Mix in sea salt and garlic powder.

Eat and enjoy- I told you it was quick and easyΒ πŸ˜‰

Corn Tortilla Chips: Just like not all calories are created equal, neither are all chips. When buying corn tortilla chips, aim to buy organic to ensure they are gmo-free and do not have any added chemicals or nonsense. My favorite brand is Garden of Eatin’ Organic Blue Chips, which you can find at most grocery stores.

PS: make sure your avocado is ripe (soft but not mushy), so that your guac will not only taste better, but it will also mash up into the perfect consistency
